"In half" means two different jobs. Split the document into a first and a second file, or cut every page down the middle to turn scanned two-page spreads into single pages.

The cut is exactly at the midpoint of the page. If your scan is off-centre, the gutter may clip a few letters: rescan with the spine centred, or leave a margin when scanning.
Questions about halving PDFs
How do I split a PDF into two files?
Choose "Two files: first half and second half". An odd page count puts the extra page in the first half. For an uneven split, use Custom ranges, e.g. 1-12, 13-end.
How do I cut scanned book pages in half?
Choose "Cut each page in two" and "Down the middle". Each scanned spread becomes a left page followed by a right page, all in one PDF.
Is the cut page re-rendered?
No. SplitPDF duplicates the page and changes its visible area (the crop and media box), so the content stays vector and sharp. The hidden half is still inside the file, which is why the result is roughly twice the size of each page's share.
My book reads right to left. Can I flip the order?
Yes. Tick "Right half comes first" and the right half of each spread is placed before the left.
